I lived in Cheney Kansas and worked for Cessna aircraft in 1992. I met a farmer in Murdock Ks. and got permission to hunt his land. The very first evening i got a chance to hunt i climbed up in a cottonwood tree along a creek bottom and rattled my horns. An eight point ran under my tree and i shot him with my bow. The next year i got transfered to North Carolina and haven't been back since. I still have the farmers number and friends in Ks. and plan on getting back. Hiawatha should be a good area, Good Luck
LOTS of deer, and plenty of big buck. Like was said before, know what kind of a buck you're after before you go, and than hold out for him. You'll get you're chance. Kansas deer are usually very vocal, calling often works. We hunted southeastern Kansas the last two years, near Independence, and have plans of returning again this fall. Good luck!!!!!
I know but its one of those things i just gotta be on my place in Pa. first day. I havent missed a first day in Pa. since 1978. I really think it the previous week but travel time and getting cabin prepped would be the issue.
well i hear you there but i own 100 acres here in pa. your land must be better than my land. i would gladly hunt public land in kansas before the best private land in pa. i guarentee i could shoot a way bigger buck on public ground in kansas than any private ground in pa. to make it short i love pa and my property but the deer hunting in pa is nothing as compared to ANYWHERE in kansas.
