Game Lands # 168 Danielsville Pa

We just bought an amazing home in Danielsville near Blue Mountain...Our back yard butts up against game lands, I think it GL#168, I basically walk 5 steps out my yard and I am standing on the GL, my question pertains to how good this area is for deer...I hunt alot of private ground but since my house is where it is I am planning on heading outback and letting the guys who park in the GL parking areas push the deer into the area behind my house...What can I expect hunting this area?? Is there a good deer population? I have heard the quality in this area is exceptional, any info would be greatly appreciated.

don't know the gameland but the area is good.I'd get out and scout in this snow.Should give you a good idea where the deer like to be.Expect alot of company during rifle seasons.During archery you'll probably have the place almost to yourself.I'm sure a feeder in your yard will let you know whats around too.

Jayden advice is right. I used to live in Walnutport and know afew guys that hunt the Blue and uaually get a deer and always a turkey. Alot of turkey around, used to see them all the time when I drove Timberline Road. My buddy's sister lives on Blue Mt. Dr. right across from the resturant and they have bear coming into their yard. There's also rattlesnakes around too; guy I know ran one over on Timberline road which almost stretched 3/4 ways across the road. Look for small streams or springs at the base of the Blue, all those critters gotta come down to get a drink.

It gets a lot of pressure . I wouldn't expect much. But since its in your backyard you should be able to scout and pattern them more then most guys, giving you an advantage.

Re: Game Lands # 168 Danielsville Pa

I don't plan on not hunting the private land(Bucks & MontCo) I have access to, its just a nice convenience to have it in my back yard, not really worried about gun season, I'll prob hunt it exclusively during archery...All game lands get lots of pressure so I figured it wouldn't be any different, just wanted someone else's perspective who knows the area.

Thanks again,
Bill

Get some cameras out early. There has been some bruisers taken off that mountian in the last couple years. It nice to walk out your back door. I can do the same thing, but I have a lease in bucks also.

Hunted it for over 20 years. Took my two biggest buck up there, one scoring 153". I abandoned it after more and more guys started hunting it. A lot of poaching going on there as well. Reported two guys this year that shot protected bucks during rifle season. The deer ate there, I just got suck of guys walking around by 8 in the am screwing me up. Very thick briars up there. Deer will lay in them and let you pass by without ever getting up.
