Depends on whether you are hunting over it. If you throw it out in your back yard just to watch the deer, it is food. If you hunt over it, it is bait. It contains food stuffs that attract game. I don't have the exact language from the rule book, but I would not chance it.

Re: Acorn Rage and other stuff {deer lures}

It says, "scents and lures that contain any form of natural or artificial food stuff, including, but not limited to, corn, apple, and acorns are not legal" in bold print in the General Regs section of the hunting digest.

Bait is not legal unless it has roots and those roots are still in the ground.

A closed mind keeps the truth out

Re: Acorn Rage and other stuff {deer lures}

And hunting over it could be 500 yards away on a trail the deer use to come to the "food". Best not to put any food out on the property you hunt period.

Really, do you think people spend 10 bucks for a little bag of something to put out by the trail camera in August. Funny how the shelves at Wallyworld are full of this stuff until October.

Re: Acorn Rage and other stuff {deer lures}

That was the "could be" part. You're right, no set distance. That also was the "best not to put any out part".

No problem the pgc has to notify you to stop before you get fined.
