Indiana County?

I was invited to hunt a friends place for a few days next fall in the archery season. He says the area is near roaring run. Can anybody tell me about the area? Topography, big timber, amount of farms, deer population???

Re: Indiana County?

Roaring run near the town of bolivar? The area has a mix of rolling hills with small farms. Some areas of big timber on the larger ridges. Deer population varies in the area. Public and and big timber areas have less deer for sure. Managed private can have great numbers with a chance at a good buck. A decent deer would be a 3.5 year old 16-18 " spread 100-120 bc, on the better ag areas. On the ridges acorns and thickets are key areas. In archery season the last 2 weeks will be the best. Unless its a larger tract of land with tight control of hunters, dont expect to be alone in the woods or monster bucks behind every tree. But the area has potential for a good hunt with decent rack size for PA.

Re: Indiana County?

Deer numbers are not what they used to be but you can still get one if you put in time and effort.
