Hope everyone had a great season!

I know the season is far from over for some including myself but since rifle has concluded I figured a post was in order. I hope everyone was able to have a wonderful season regardless of any harvests. I always try my hardest to harvest the animal I am after but as always this season provided so much more than meat and antlers. I didn't get out hunting much in comparison to all of the scouting I have done this past year but still had a blast.

I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday season and a great remainder of the season in the field. I can't wait to get back in the treestand with the bow after Christmas!

You want me to put my ear to the ground? Listen for hoof beats? Look for broken twigs?

I did not see a lot of deer, but was blessed in archery season with a nice buck.

Re: Hope everyone had a great season!

Every season that I'm able to hunt is a great season. This year was even more so because my son was able to hunt quite a bit with me. The venison in the freezer is merely a bonus.

If you're having trouble hunting for deer,
don't wish things were easier;
wish you were smarter.

Re: Hope everyone had a great season!

I Had a fantastic year, and didn't kill a buck. My Son came home and out of 12 days of rifle, we hunted 11 and cut up meat the off day.

My Son got a buck and a doe, my Granddaughter got a buck and a button buck.

It really wouldn't of mattered to me if I even carried a rifle I really enjoyed the family time together making memories.

We hunted with friends putting on drives everyday, saw deer everyday, rain or shine we were out there. Saw some new country and this morning about 6A.M. my Son started back to Fla with a big cooler full of homemade jerky, hot sticks and a box full of several jars of home canned venison.

Yep 2012 was a great year for the Redneck crew

For those who fought for it, Life has a flavor the protected will never know.

Re: Hope everyone had a great season!

I had somewhat of a miserable season thus far. Not because of deer numbers, or lack of harvest to this point, but because of a shoulder injury and subsequent surgery, which caused me to basically miss the last 2 weeks of archery and firerms season. I'm hpoing to get rehab'd to the point I can go out with the flintlock.

For those that complain about not harvesting......feel blessed you even got to be out. I would have loved to just be out and in a viable condition to have the chance to harvest a deer.....
