lets talk 2C. somerset/fayette county

i have had a good season to start with. i shot a doe with my bow and a 7 point on the first day of gun season. both on public land. i am just wondering how other guys feel about the sw mountains. i think its getting a whole lot better. i have shot 7 deer in the last 4 years in these mountains. 1 buck, 1 button(oops!!!!!), and 5 does. please tell me your ups and downs. one last thing to say. hunting is about adapting and doing your homework. pa has deer and you gotta put your time in the field. there reason i wanted to add that was in response to all the huys who say theynever see deer anymore.

Its all about knowing your hunting area and putting the time and effort into it.

Re: lets talk 2C. somerset/fayette county

My family bought a camp off of white's creek road, 26 acres. Over the summer had many pictures of bear/ 2 different bucks, one nice 8 one decent 6, and some doe. I will be hunting the last 3 days of the season up there on my mountain, first day of bear had the 6 walk within a few yards of me. Not sure what to think of the deer hunting as of yet, but I'll let you know by saturday

I've been hunting the lowlands of 2c but have been seeing alot of nice bucks coming from the mountains. Most have been from the Jumonville area.

Re: lets talk 2C. somerset/fayette county

good to see some replys. i hope everyone has a great and safe rest of the season. i am looking forward to flintlock season in the mountains. maybe we will have some snow. flintlock season with fresh powder is a great time to hunt and more important to start doing your homework for next year. try new areas and walk in deep. i have 3 doe tags left. 2 2 a and 1 2 c. doubt i use them since i have did ok this year. next seasons scouting begins dec 26th!!
