Does anybody hunt Fort Indiantown Gap

Just recently got a permit to hunt on Ft Indiantown Gap. The place is big and divided into many zones can someone suggest which zones are best?

For archery or rifle? A lot of archers like the Alpha areas. Especially A-11, A-12, A-13. I like the Charlie areas and Delta personally with C-4 and D-5 being two of my all time faves. B-12 used to be my favorite until they cut all the woods down.

Well the "A" areas aren't open for rifle so you can do yourself a favor by learning the "C" and "D" areas in archery so you know them when rifle rolls around.

Frankly, too many changing rules, I gave up on it.

Plus the rifle drawing is rigged in favor of the members of the "sportsman's club". I got tired of seeing the same names drawn every year for first week of rifle.

C&D are the areas to learn for rifle.

There is some talk about fencing the entire reservation. If that happens it would cut down on the folks sneaking in from the game and private lands.

Re: Does anybody hunt Fort Indiantown Gap

I have a question in the Rifle areas was it worth the time to hunt in terms of seeing game (Typically I see about 0-10 deer for a weeks worth of hunting in Luzerne or Dauphin Counties)? Was access a problem my wife has early stage MS and tires easily? Were there a lot of hunters in the rifle areas as compared to say the local Gamelands.
Did you see any Bear during rifle?

Depends on what areas are open. Less areas open more people are grouped closer together. Yes there is bear around.

I gave up on it for the same reasons plus the fee didn't impress me.

It's worthwhile. It's certainly better hunting than the SGL's in Lebanon county. You'll run into bear in the D areas mostly.

I agree could see bear in D.
If you are hunting bear, you would be better off on the Game Lands to the north (St. Anthony's Wilderness).
