Realtree Pennsylvania deer hunting grade

Realtree has been grading states for deer hunting, and finally got to Pennsylvania. It was graded a C. What do you guys think of that grade? Too high, too low, or just right? I think that it is a fair grade. There are areas in the state that could be an A, but there are also areas that could be an F. Link is below.

What a joke! What criteria did they use for the grading system? They just gave a snyopsis of old harvest numbers and new harvest numbers, the management program and gave it a C. I really could care less about what they think but it would be nice to know what they used to base their grade on!

Compared to the midwest states and the states bordering PA has good hunting but some states are better..For more opportunities for hunters PA is good.Alot of bordering states are also experiencing lower deer populations caused by habitat and predators and possibly hunter overkill..I think it is a combination of factors..

It was graded a C.

Not the best but not the worse---IMO--C rating is OK

As I said, the grade doesn't mean squat, I would just like to know since they took it upon themselves to give us a grae, what did they base it on?

Re: Realtree Pennsylvania deer hunting grade

I think C is a fair grade. I too, like JohnS, would like to know the grading criteria. There are definitely some aspects of PA that I would grade much higher. For example, Public access: A- Management Goal: B+ Flintlock Only season: A+

And some other aspects that still need improvement Trophy Quality: D+/C- (but trending up) Early Inline: F Poaching Penalties/Rampantness: D-

So C sounds fair to me

I think they hit it right, PA is a "c" state. Given the amount of hunters we have, that's to be expected.

A C for what? Available land to hunt, number of deer, quality of the deer, cost of the hunt??? What is the C for. I don;t give one bit of creedence to a grading system that doesn;t tell you what the grade was based on. Just more crap from some editor who probably never hunted PA!

Here is thought; Maybe they graded based upon all relevant criteria and it seems most agree they got it right.
