New bone starting !!!

Got to see my first buck nubs this morning.

Was sitting up against a tree waiting on some turkeys to make a move and caught a movement over my left shoulder. It was a 2 1/2 year buck with about 2 inches of velvet nub sticking above the hairline.

Here we go !!!

Re: New bone starting !!!

I saw the same thing myself the other day while waiting on some gobblers. Had a group of 3 little bucks, the best with maybe 3" on top cross the hill next to me. As soon as that smell of the new spring is gone it's right back to waiting for that crisp fall smell.

Re: New bone starting !!!

There was one in the middle of the road dead this morning who had 8 inches off the top of his head and some points it's a shame he didn't make it

Re: New bone starting !!!

I have a few pics with some sporting a couple inches, and one real nice sized deer with four or five inches and some really thick bases. They all look thick in velvet, but it will be fun to try to watch this one grow.

Re: New bone starting !!!

Saw a buck hit on the road yesterday that had 7" main beams and 1" brow tines. I know they all grow at different rates but it seems awful early for that much bone already. Big body as well
