Deer Sightings

I hear a lot of disappointment in HPA members voice on not seeing deer. How long do you expect to hunt during rifle season before seeing a deer?

Re: Deer Sightings

This poll is weird. I expect to hunt a couple hours before seeing a deer, not days. And I'm not talking about sitting on a stump hoping dumb luck brings one past, i'm talking about taking a walk through good deer habitat.

And even if you sit on a stump hoping dumb luck brings one past, that should happen within less than a day, especially on the first day with all those guys taking a walk through good deer habitat.

Hunting: 10% skill and 90% location.

Re: Deer Sightings

I'm guessing this just means see a deer, not a legal buck?

Catch & release is for guys who don't know how to cook

Re: Deer Sightings

Is this for all hunting land..private and public? I hunt archery on a small piece of private land and rifle on public lands. saw deer on both.

Re: Deer Sightings

"all those taking a walk" hardly exist now. Most hunters are old baby boomer generation and they aren't doing much of anything anymore but trying avoid the reaper.
