Not sure what to do?

Ive been hunting my usual stand on my property, it sits in the corner of a field over looking the field but at the same time allowing me to see any deer coming in and out of the woods. I have hunted here every morning and evening since monday and havnt seen a single deer. Today i decided to get out of the stand around 8:30 and walk a little deeper into the woods. When i got about 80 yards into the woods just over the bank i saw 3 deer(couldnt if does or buck)head toward the dirt road where the neighbors field is. About 10 minutes later heard 2 shots and found out a little while later my neighbor missed as nice 8 point..now i cant decide if i should go back and hunt the spot where i jumped the deer out of hoping this buck comes back or not even waste my time doing so? The deer did not run away like they felt in danger, they kind of just trotted away...any help appreciated

Re: Not sure what to do?

I would hunt in the woods for a few tries. I have a situation just like this where I hunt. I found that my deer don't like to be in the open after first light, meaning they are in the woods before I am. I sit just inside the woods trying to catch them if they move or I can do a slow stalk. Worked for me in the past!

Hunt the woods.

I'd rather be fishing or hunting!

Re: Not sure what to do?

During rifle I would hunt the woods. Especially after the first day, typically the deer are gun shy and will be out of the fields prior to even first light and after your out of the woods

Hunt the thickest nastiest stuff you can find in the woods....The buck now know what's up and will relocate into the thick stuff till the coast is clear...

Good luck...

Re: Not sure what to do?

its december, and I am assuming the corn field you are hunting has been picked and hammered by all of the wildlife in your area for the past two months. No reason for them to go out into the field to feed if there is no food... and the deer are gunshy and wont typically show themselves in daylight in a big open field. I would venture into the woods, good luck !

Re: Not sure what to do?

The deer know what's going on at this point. Hunt thicker cover and you will likely find deer.

Re: Not sure what to do?

Considering the fact that you are hunting your own property, you probably know where the thickest, nastiest cover is on that property.

I'm talking the kind of junk you have to force your way through backwards.....That's where the deer are....Go Get 'em

Don't let the name fool Ya!
