Look at this shot!!!!

4:30 on Monday here comes this nice little ten point. It was walking to my left about 75 yds. First shot hit a little far back Racked the Roberts and shot again..nuttin`. Had one more shot before He was out of sight and it was at the Neck. Left fly and down He went. Walked up to Him and noticed a small Maple Tree with a fresh bullet Hole clear through it. I was using 100 Gr. Pro Hunters in .257 and apparantly the Bullet made it through the Tree with enough gump to down The Deer!! Will try to Post pictures. If I can`t I will send them to my BIL to Post. So, If`n you hide behind a Tree better pick a big one!!!!! [img]

Re: Look at this shot!!!!

In 1974 my dad shot a 150 lb 8 point, huge for this particular area back then, on a foggy day. When he found the deer he saw he hit it in the chest, but also noticed a wound in the hind. The next day he went to where he shot from and walked to where the deer was when he shot. About half way between he saw a sapling that the bullet went through first and apparently the lead seperated from the base. One piece penetrated the chest and the other hit the rear. I don't recall what type bullets he used back then, cal was .308.

Shoot straight

Re: Look at this shot!!!!

Thats a good performing bullet. I have 4- 25 calibers and use that bullet in most of my guns. Deer harly ever move much from the lighting bolts of a 25.
