I hunted in 1A opening morning. Up near Volant Pa. I had decided to hold out for a buck on opening day and passed on a few does. I also passed on a small basket racked 8 point. By lunch time I was wondering if I had made a mistake! At 12:45 this monster came RUNNING past my stand. I don't like taking running shots but this guy would not stop when I whistled. I shot three times...hitting him in the vitals twice. The last shot hit him square on the shoulder at 65 yards and he piled up. My Remington 7600 in 35 whelen did the trick I was shooting 250 grain Hornady roundnose bulets launched at 2400 fps. As I walked up to him....he looked even bigger! A nice pa buck. My nicest rifle buck in years. LOTS of mass on this one! Outside spread is over 20 inches.
