Re: 2g deer reports

Heard 15 shots yesterday and 10 shots today. Foggy and HOT on Monday, hunted in a T-shirt. 65 and raining all day today, steady downpour. I shot a dmap doe on Monday and a 7pt today but had to walk to find anything. Deer aren't moving and most of the hunters aren't either probably because of the heat. Good 2 days for me but I would say overall a very poor 1st two days for Southern Potter. Deer are all in thick beech brush, which this year is our only food other than apples and browse. If the snow tomorrow produces better visibility the rest of the week and possibly the 2nd week will be even better than the 1st two days for those still hunting. In my experience the camps clear out by Wednesday most years and will fill back up for 1 or 2 days of doe season and then empty again. I'd say we are in for a banner 2012 around here because people just aren't getting many deer because of the weather.

Re: 2g deer reports

I can back PCM up on what he said. Deer are sitting tight in the thick stuff and not moving. Monday was warm and foggy and today was just wet. Heard some shots on monday and know of one buck taken about 4miles from my camp. Saw no deer and 4 bears one which was a cinnamon. Hunted hard and pushed some nasty stuff on monday but with few guys in the woods the deer just held tight and ran circles around me. Still anyday in Potter County beats a day at work!!
