Unbelievable!

I have been hunting a ridge on a farm for the past 6 years.I have spoken to the farmer on several occasions and each year I take him a gift basket.3 weeks ago I dropped off a basket filled with bologna, cheese, gourmet mustards, jams, jellies and a bottle of wine and all seemed fine.I have been down as late as the last day of bear season, again all seemed fine.I get down there today and they have a big tree across the access road with a no vehichles permitted sign..GREAT!Just the way to start the season because I only allowed for the time it took to walk the 1/4 mile to one of my stands, the walk is now over 1.5 miles.I grab all my gear and begin humping up the trail and when I get to my stand I notice that someone has placed 2 ladder stands within 50 yards of my location.I am at a loss for words right now about how I feel.I just hope he lets me drive in to pick up my 3 ladder stands, otherwise it will take me an entire day to haul them out.I just don't understand what happened. If he knew he was going to block access I really wish he had told me when I talked to him 3 weeks ago...I am mad at myself for not having a backup plan.OKAY I am done whining,I don't normally post whiney, negative posts but I really needed to vent.Good luck to all, shoot straight and be safe.
Jim

Re: Unbelievable!

And that there folks is why I dont own any ladder stands. Its too much effort to move when things dont pan out.

What I say might not be the popular trend but at least Im not afraid to speak my mind!

Seriously I think most will agree that this guy got shafted. I mean sounds like they have a good relationship, he should have said something when he accepted the basket.

The farmer could have mentioned it when the OP saw him three weeks before.

Hunting: 10% skill and 90% location.

Re: Unbelievable!

That is exactly my point. He had no issue accepting 135 dollar basket but couldn't tell me about his plans...

Re: Unbelievable!

Go thank him for blocking access. It may make your hunting better in the future.

Re: Unbelievable!

BTW, instead of a gift basket, I'd rather have the cash. LOL

Re: Unbelievable!

I'm thinking something happen to make him do that .Maybe if you talk to him about a gate you will be the only one next year.
