Found dead spike buck

The boys and me spent the last 3 days hanging stands. On Friday , we found a spot that look really good. My son says to me, do you smell something. I turned towards him and immediately smelled rotting flesh. We followed the odor which lead to the remains of a deer that was almost completely decomposed. Upon checking further, we saw that it had 1 spike on the right side, that still had velvet on it. A little disappointing to say the least. The odd part was, there was a fresh scrape within 20' of the carcass.

Yep won't hurt a thing as long as you can take the smell.

Traditions only last if you pass them down to your kids!

If the deer were going to mind something, it would be the new smell of stands hanging everywhere.

I would have just picked up the head. I love Euopean skull mounts.

By the letter of the law you have to pay $10 per point. Worste case you would be out 20 bucks.

In all reality anything could have happened to the deer to cause it's demise. Unless I find it with an actual bullet or arrow wound I don't give it much thought.

Re: Found dead spike buck

Just a few weeks ago setting up our new spot we had several deer come out of a thicket. I looked down over the hill where they all came from and there was a dead 1 inch per side spike laying dead. all 3 deer were laying right near it.

Re: Found dead spike buck

They don't mind..I like to use roadkill as camo and sneak right into bedding areas.

Just another Reezen to hunt...
