A Good Hunt is a Safe Hunt
Leaving for a couple weeks my last Company Safety Call included Safety for the upcoming Deer Season. It was quite interesting that the same things that keep you safe at work will keep safe afield. I will list some and I am sure that this list can be expanded upon with all the experienced site members.
*Do not hunt impaired, a late night before can carry over to the next morning.
*Be seen wear orange on your head, back, and chest. Speak up if an other hunter is coming near you.
*Fall Protection is a must when hunting from heights.
*Treat every gun as it were loaded and never point it toward anyone or yourself.
*Do not lean a loaded gun against a tree or vehicle.
*Do not climb a tree with a loaded gun.
*Do not trust a tree stand that you are not familiar with.
*Do not have a loaded gun in your vehicle or atv.
*Let someone know where you are hunting.
*Carry a cell phone or some means of communication.
*Bring an extra change of clothes if possible.
*When you down that big buck go for help.
*Be sure of your target and what is behind it--bullets can fly a long ways.
*Follow the Game Laws.
*Bring a small first aid kit.
*Bring water and something to munch on.
*Be a Safety Teacher with young hunters.
I wish everyone luck and a safe hunt, please add to this list as I am sure you will.
