Rem 700 Ammo

I have a Remington 700 7mm rem mag, and 7mm-08, and I've always fired Remington Core-Lokt ammunition from both. Plenty of hunting success and accuracy on long range targets. Anyone out there have the same rifles, and experimented with any other ammo, that they really like? Just curious. I hunt primarily with the 7 mag. Also wondering... Has anyone tried the Core-Lokt "Whitetail Pro" ammo? What's the difference from the standard CL rounds?

Re: Rem 700 Ammo

I have a 700 in 7mm Rem Mag and I've found it to shoot best with Winchester Ballistic Sivertips. Patterns much better for me than Core-Lokt and rivals handloads.

Re: Rem 700 Ammo

I use a 700 30-06 and absolutely love the Winchester Silvertips the gun performed great with them, I had a Rem 7400 and that also did great with them, but not corelocts.

The bullets are made by Nosler and come in 140 gr

Re: Rem 700 Ammo

my 700 7mm rem mag isn't fussy with corelokt's 150's or 175's . i've also reloaded some HOT 120 and 140 ballistic tips and they shoot good too. i've even loaded some 175 round noses for brush.

Re: Rem 700 Ammo

I have had my Rem 700 7MM Mag for 38 years (since I was 10!) and when using factory loads have used 140 grain Corelokts with awesome results. When I was in my teens we shot the Remington 125 grain factory loads and loved them...can't find them since those days. Loaded some 139 grain Hornadys last year...will report the results...hopefully!

Re: Rem 700 Ammo

I mostly handload but when going to factory ammo for whitetail size game, I have started using the Federal Fusion ammo. I have found it to shoot very accurately across many calibers including the 7 mag and 7-08 (both of which mine are Rem 700's and the couple deer I have shot were instant kills with it. Fusion ammo is very well priced as well.

Re: Rem 700 Ammo

I handload all my ammunition and also shoot a 7mag. If I were to buy factory I would start with the Federal Fusion and see how they patterned. The Fusion bullet is a very nice design at a good price.

I have never killed a large game animal with factory ammo, I can only give my opinion based off what I have read/researched about the Fusion bullet.

Re: Rem 700 Ammo

Out of the box, I've had the best results with Federal Premiums 140gr BT's and Hornaday 139gr SST's
