Pymatuning Flintlock Hunt..... tell me more

OK...so I sent in my application and forgot about it. This morning a friend called and said I WAS DRAWN! YEAH!!! So, where do I go? My buddy Fullfan has been there a BUNCH of times and said he will give me some pointers. Any other ideas? I'll be using my flintlock. Thanks, TD

good luck with your hunt. I've heard good things about the hunt. Where did you find the info about the hunt? I have searched before but was not able to find anything valuable.

you can enter it at the waterfwll expo they hold every year in September at the lake. My brother gets a copy for me to fill out. You usually dont find out if your drawn until after the regualr gun season so I guess he has an inside source. I am hoping to get drawn for the flinter permit myself.

Exactly, a friend was at the drawing. She said my name was read (and my brother) and our addresses. She did not hear which day. Probably will get a letter soon. Just wondered if anyone out there has been on the hunt. I hear it's a BLAST, with the possibility of seeing some monster bucks.

I guess you got me there! I was not aware of that. Seems this info should be available to the public somewhere?
I have often wondered how they would know if they were drawn. It could make a difference if someone decided to hold out an a legal buck in hopes for a true monster. I couldnt fathom how they could manage a hunt if they did not know that half the people tagged out prior to the hunt.
I will have to look into this.....

P.S.
quite a few years ago my brother and I went spotting near the propogation area and we saw our first an only 200+" world class buck with about 15 doe. It was awe inspiring to say the least....

Biggest Buck I've ever seen came up and out of the swamp and into the cornfield in the propogated area. I'm talking body size. The rack was certainly something else, but the size of the body and the potbelly is what stood out. I'd guess this was around '77 or '78.

There are some giants in that area, I do a lot of rabbit hunting in hartstown swamp and it's amazing some of the bucks we see in there. Good luck on the hunt Taterdave.

Re: Pymatuning Flintlock Hunt..... tell me more

Does anyone know who to call or where to look for a public list to see who have been selected?

I would like to know if I made the list this year....seems as tough as getting drawn for an elk tag.

Re: Pymatuning Flintlock Hunt..... tell me more

The public drawing was just Saturday, I guess they read the name of the hunter and his guest (if you listed one)and their address. They did not say which day. My guess is once they have everything together they will publish a list. I know they notify you by mail, I just don't know when. I'm not a "trophy hunter", but I've killed enough basket bucks that I don't shoot them anytime. I will hold off and save my buck tag for the flintlock hunt. I still have 2 other doe tags. I read somewhere that the hunt is in the 1A management area. Will let you know when I get official confirmation from the PGC.
Oh and for the record, this was the first time I ever applied!
