Halloween screwed me!
Had the opportunity to get out of work a little early today, so I eagerly decided to get some much needed "my time" in to go hunting. I climbed in my stand around 3 and didn't see anything until I saw a doe around 4:30. While watching her, I heard some noise behind me where the land was recently timbered. At first I thought it was a squirrel, but then I spotted a nice buck! Ranged it at 56 yards, too far for a shot. The buck came close to 30 yards but never allowing a good shot. The next thing I know, my wife is calling me on my cell phone (oh why did I forget to turn the ringer off) She was calling me to remind me that I was supposed to take the kids trick-or-treating and to get out of the woods by six. Needless to say, the buck heard the ringing and was long gone by the time I had a grasp on what actually happened.
