Re: Big game with a slingshot?

hmmmm....whats the legal definition of a bow??? would that actually be legal in PA??? just out of curiousities sake...i could care less..i own a perfectly good bow and wouldnt mess with it...just got me thinkin LOL....

pretty good idea i reckon...curious as to what kind of speed you can achieve from a sling shot and an arrow and if there is actually enough power to kill a deer...

in a survival situation or something, that could work well i reckon...

Re: Big game with a slingshot?

I don't think the draw weight would be within the law.

Re: Big game with a slingshot?

Did some research...mine is 18lb pull...so it can be set up higher with different color bands or by adding one so i guess it could be possible

Re: Big game with a slingshot?

No, it would not be legal to hunt with in PA.

Bow—In addition to the definition in section 102 of the act, a device for launching an arrow, which derives its propulsive energy solely from the bending and recovery of two limbs. The energy used to propel the arrow may not be derived from another source. These limitations may not exclude the mechanical leverage advantage provided by eccentric wheels or cams so long as the available energy stored in the bent limbs of the bow is the sole result of a single, continuous and direct pulling effort by the shooter. A track, trough, channel or other device capable of mechanically holding the bow at full or partial draw may not be attached to the bow. The bowstring shall be drawn, held and released as a direct and conscious action of the shooter. Release shall be accomplished by either relaxing the tension of the fingers or triggering the release action of a manually held release aid. A bow shall have a peak draw weight not less than 35 pounds

Re: Big game with a slingshot?

Not trying to start anything here but could one view the sides of the slingshot as "limbs"? It is definately not something I will be trying.

One could try, it wouldn't work.
solely from the bending and recovery of two limbs.

Re: Big game with a slingshot?

And you notice that the video didn't have any footage of him actually shooting a deer. To me this idea would only be useful in a survival situation.
