I heard the same thing...someone posted on my wife's page a few days ago that the bulls were going crazy there. I need to take my kids up there sometime, but alas....I leave for CO to hunt elk in 2 days, no time.
I was just there last night with the wife and son. There was nothing at the visitors center at all. We went down the road from there on a gravel road that i believe was Dewey Road. Nice size herd of around 50 with a few decent bulls. Saw some other ones driving around too. I would guess we saw 85-100 total but no big boys.
Went up there Tuesday with the lady. She had never heard them bugle before so she was excited to hear that. A couple nice bulls on Dewey Road were bugling, thought there might be a fight but the smaller one knew his place. Saw the biggest one i've ever seen in person in someone's back yard at a salt lick near the eastern end of Winslow Hill Road. i think it was an 8 x 5 or 9 x 5. i dont know how to post pics on here yet but if i get them from my girlfriend i'll try.
great day trip up there with gorgeous fall colors too. think i missed the real scenery by about a week tho.
