Youth Buck Season.

Using the same logic the state uses for duck, squirrel and pheasant, how would you feel about a special youth rifle season for deer the week before the regular gun opener for adults?

Why or why not would you be for or against it?

Re: Youth Buck Season.

What are you going to do about Bear Season. Plus in PA the Schools already schedule the current First day off. I am all for allowing more opportunities for Kids but there is a better option.... (however that is Sunday Hunting)

Re: Youth Buck Season.

Leave Sunday hunting or lowering the age limit out of it. That's another topic.

Bear season shouldn't matter. Make it the days before the bear season, if that makes it easier.

Re: Youth Buck Season.

Not sure why you want to leave Sunday hunting out of the topic you ask my opinion. However I will leave it out. As for lowering the age there really isnt a legal age now because of the mentored hunt. So we will move on.

Though I would love to have this a week before bear, the main issue here will be the date and its proximity to the Rut. Though some will say it is over by this time is it really? Bear hunters will say it will disturb the bear, Archery hunters will say why couldnt we have one more week, Rifle hunters will complain they do not get a chance to hunt the rut. Big bait cast out here... interested to see what comes of it.

Re: Youth Buck Season.

Kids already have the chance to rifle hunt for does. Dont see why we should make a big fuss bout bucks. Plus there are more people out pushing deer dureing regular rifle buck. Anyone want to say im a idiot for killing does? I really dont care meat in the freezer is how i hunt. a deer is a deer. dont get me wrong i think its bad to kill button bucks but i just feel its a tad....cant find the word...just dont see why there should be a "buck season for youth" and sunday hunting thing??? Heck that would get kids out. My father is in the navy and we only had Saturdays to hunt up here till he went overseas this summer and we moved back up and im now 16. But thats just how i feel bout all this. LOL. But that would be a hard thing to pass in law. Sorry if i made anyone mad but its my point of view

Re: Youth Buck Season.

Kids already have a ton of opportunities. Get the kids interested in small game... thats where the decline is. Call me grumpy if you want.....

Re: Youth Buck Season.

If you want your kid to have the chance to take a deer before everyone else, take them out in the late summer months. Simply find out which places give out red tags near you and go from there. Thats what I did with my nephew. We hunted a farm with red tags in the evening in mid to late August and on the 3rd night we had a doe come out that was by herself and he did the rest from there.
