another sickening tv show

I just happened to turn on the tele while eating lunch. The channel already on was one with a hunting show. Texmac or something like that. There was a father with his 24 year old daughter, yep, twenty four! She missed a buck and the father had to reach over her shoulder and jack a new round in the chamber. Turns my stomach green having to see a 24 year old have to have her gun action worked for her to take a second shot. She was NOT handicapped. I quit hunting with some friends because the dad had to load and chamber his 21 year old son's gun. If any licensed healthy adult hunter can't load or work the action on their own gun, then they shouldn't be in the field. This is why I rarely watch these hunting shows

I gotta go agitate the techies!

Re: another sickening tv show

As all know I a big proponent of getting kids and family members out there. If my daughter is 24 and finally decided that yes she does want to take a deer (she is 12 now and unsure of it now) I will take her in a heartbeat. HOWEVER she will have practiced enough with the weapon that loading, unloading and reloading can all be done without me.

Up to 12, I can see having the parent do it, I mean that is the backbone of the mentor training program , that the adult handles the weapon except at shot time ...after 12 and HTE course it is time to step it up . Least that is my rule.

I am not big on hunting TV, I'd rather find and watch vids here from guys I know...

Re: another sickening tv show

i made sure my kids could load, unload, shoot and clean a gun before i ever took them hunting. i personally hate those hunting tv shows. i watched them when my boys were little and when i took them hunting they were like "dad wheres all the deer?".

i always said they should make a show that has the guys getting up at 4AM, dressing in way too many clothes, parking in a SGL lot with about 50 other guys and trudging through the woods in the dark to sit under a tree all day in a 35 degree drizzle and see not a living thing. now THATS hunting.
