Several years ago I read somewhere that 1 out of 60 hunters in PA harvests a black bear. I believe I read that sometime in the 1980s, I figure with all of the bear sightings and bear being killed where they were never even seen in the last few years that the odds are much better? Any input?
Looking purely at the numbers.... last year only 1.8% of bear tags sold were filled. With over 170k bear license sold that means ones odds are VERY LOW! Less than 1 in 50.... and that is with the highest numbers of hunters and largest population of bear in Pa's history! add to that the extended seasons with more opportunities.... GO FIGURE
However.... many hunters who kill do so regularly.
