A New First

Friday, I hunted a DCNR dmap property and thought the dmap tag would be filled. While still hunting an acorn rich flat, I see two small deer running my way. The closer they got I said too small to burn my tag, together they may have weighed 100lb combined.

My first impression was two fawn doe until one tried to mount the other and then seen one had about 2in spikes. The little doe mule kicked the spike and kept trying to escape him. Around and around they went and eventually got out of sight. No, I didn't fill my tag but did get to view a "new first" and enjoyed that experience thoroughly. Just another day enjoying the PA woods!

I've Never Seen It

I'm a mere 61 yrs young, hunting since age 12 and nope, never had the experience of watching deer mate. I doubt very many hunters have ever seen this happen either. Cool story & thanks for sharing. Josh
