See my thread on the general forum regarding the rain in the forecast. Just depends upon which one you'd rather not get wet.....

You can't go wrong with either! The Remington pump is an iconic PA deer rifle and both calibers are proven to do the job. I'm partial to the 30-06 because that's what I have always used and I have the utmost confidence in. However, one of my best friends shot the biggest buck I have ever seen and dropped it in its tracks with one shot from a .243 last year. Tough decision, but like you said you really can't go wrong either way. Best of luck on Monday!

I'd tote the plastic with rain in the forecast.

Unfortunately I have to work, but my daughter is taking my wood stocked 338 win mag out.
I don't think the rain will affect it. I've sealed the stock with wax and have taken it to Newfoundland, so I think we will be ok.

I would take the 243 to get a deer with it.You could flip a coin then if you don't get a deer you can blame the coin.

Take them both..... then if you see a deer you can decide on which one you want to use.....

I think I am going to carry the 20ga all deer season even when I hunt 2E. It's good to 150yrds and I haven't shot past 80 yrds in a long time
