thats what i was thinking earlier, but its not in the political thread so i edited and assumed he meant SA for hunting.

I have no idea of the manufacturer. I was just blown away they make .45/70 uppers. That was the first i had ever heard of that.

I don't have ducks. I don't have rows. I have squirrels. And they're drunk.

Yeah the bill has already been passed...it's now in the hands of the PGC to decide when/if they get to be used. I for one, will not buy a new gun most likely. I have a Garand, but I probably wouldn't even use it. Maybe some day I would consider a new AR upper in a more deer capable caliber than the .223 I have.

Me myself I have a older Remington 750 carbine in 35 whelen.
We never need a excuse to add to our collection...I already am working on a Ar15 in 7.62x39 for the occasion.

Got the rifle. I would probably go get a new upper for it. Most likely the 450 Bushmaster.

I support all hunters, regardless of weapon or technique!

I probably would not buy a SA, even though I support people using them. If I bought another rifle, it would probably be another bolt action. Maybe I would get one for my son, if he wanted one. As long as it wasn't too expensive. One day, I will get an AR in 223, for fun at the range. I wouldn't hunt with it, because I prefer a bigger bullet for hunting.

My answer to the OP's question is a simple YES! I want an AR, but have no real use for one at all. I feel like I need some sort of reason other than a simple want. Probably start with a 5.56 and ad an upper in 450 Bushmaster or 50 Beowulf or maybe 300 Blackout....maybe 6.8 SPC....maybe all of them over time!

That was my line of thinking with a Ruger 10/22. Always wanted one but never bought one because I couldn't hunt with it. Once it appeared they were going to pass the SA measure, I went out and got one. Its my go-to squirrel rifle. The strangest thing happened when I started shooting squirrels with it. The sky didn't fall.

I have dad's 10/22. He bought it when I was just a little kid. Fun to shoot, put many thousands of rounds through that rifle. I never thought there would be a day when it would kill more than groundhos and rabbits raiding the garden...it's our go-to squirrel rifle now as well.
