I heard it’s pretty bad again in Northern Chester County, particularly the Warwick area. Nothing in southern 5C that I’ve discovered.

Also heard they are finding rotting deer in the Pottstown and Limerick area as well.

Is this what they call blue tongue? If so my employee's told me yesterday via W.VA. Natural resources that they have found a lot of dead deer around Petersburg and Smoke Hole area. This is via the crow flys maybe 50 miles south where CWD started in WVA. and moved north in to Md. then Pa.

I believe the Bluetongue and EHD are very similar but are in fact different diseases. I think the symptoms are almost identical so it actually takes a lab test to tell the difference.

Tests have confirmed EHD. With our warm weather this September and no cold snaps in sight, it could be another long month for those affected by this.

I support all hunters, regardless of weapon or technique!

Any word of this in SW PA or is this mostly out east? I ask because historically it seems that the SW part of PA struggles with this more this would be the first issues I have heard of EHD that far east. I honestly have not stepped a foot in the woods this year but the area of SW PA I live in got smashed last year.

You're right. SW PA is a "hotbed" for EHD outbreaks. And when it hits, it hits hard. I'm surprised with hearing that other areas in WV, PA are experiencing it this year, that no reports from SW PA are in yet ? Crossing fingers we don't get it AGAIN this year here, but have my doubts.

Spend a few days every year in the Smokehole/Petersburg area. Beautiful scenery. The Rockies of the East.

Not hearing of any cases yet in SW PA. Of course, the PGC doesn't seem to really care about tracking and monitoring it when it does surface. Last year we got crushed again in some areas and not one press release by the PGC, while at the same time over a dozen press releases about CWD.

There has yet to be a PGC press release of the confirmed cases in the SE. They recently put out a release about the opening day of archery with a paragraph dedicated to CWD. No mention of the current EHD outbreak or a request that hunters report suspicious acting deer or what to do if they shoot one that doesn't look healthy.
