Deer farm looses deer / Hunting close to it

Maybe I should have posted this in Laws and regs but there seems to be more traffic here. I got an invite to hunt a friends ground that is in Pa. real close to me in return he is going to bow hunt with me on my property. He just told me about the deer farm with in 500 yards of him lost around 12 bucks due to a fence issue. My question is if im sitting in a tree during archery and one would walk by can I shoot it? Sometimes bearing down for a good shot you might not see the ear tag and for most parts its not something I would be looking for as in an ear tag. If It was legal to shoot one would you put your normal tag on it? Would you be in violation of shooting it and have to pay the owner for it? Or if I was able to shoot it would I be aloud to bring it back to Md.? I wasent planning on hunting there for this reason I got the invite a long time ago and its only 15 minute drive for me vs. 55 minutes to my Pa. property.

First of all does the PGC know about those deer that escaped? If not they need to. Next, if they escaped they need to be killed and if they are no longer on the property of the idiot who had them they are not his anymore. As far as do you have to use your PA deer tag I would say yes, but to be sure call the Hbg Bureau of wildlife protection at 717-787-4250 and press 2 when prompted, and speak to one of the officers there and ask them the questions you have.

When you are up to your butt in alligators, it is hard to remember your intent was to drain the swamp. Stay focused!

I was just told this 2 days ago but not sure of any more details. I did advise my friend ( you have to know this guy little slow ) that the deer farmer will probably be in big - - - - over this. That to my knowledge the farmer is liable for this incident and the reason why we have CWD . And also the PGC should of been made knowledge of this. And yes good advise to make that call to get the details of the law first hand. This operation is of pretty good size. 2 miles before this one a regular plain Joe guy has a small operation of captive deer. I didn't realize Pa. had so many of these operations large and small. Thanks for the good advise WoodsWalker.

I would say any deer with an ear tag outside of a fenced area should be fair game any time of the year on public land. That why I believe CWD is most likely on the rise.

Yes, outofstater, the sooner the better on the chance the PGC doesn't know about it, these deer farmers are sometimes tightlipped about escapes and to get your questions answered from the people with the final word. As serious and even that escaped pen raised deer, I would think if the PGC knew there would have been a news release.
