Tumor, what is it?

Hey, I already posted about this buck, in a different thread, but what do you guys think the weird "tumor" like thingy is? Between the lower jaw and ear.

Thanks

Is it rigid? Or soft and pus-filled?

Catch & release is for guys who don't know how to cook

Probably just a growth that deer sometimes get. Could even be a hard tissue grow over from a previous injury

Is that a small old wound below the lump ? Could be an injury from fighting. He looks like a fighter.
I guess you will find out if you open it up ?

Dropped it off at the taxidermist today, He said that it was a fight wound and that it was most likely filled with pus. He also showed me another scar on his back (deer's back) so this deer was an aggressive fighter.

Thanks
