Mentor/ Jr. License Question

I purchased my grandson's license last week and thru the help of some members here of how to do it. He turns 12 in November and i was not sure, and of course the guy at wally world had no clue and had to call game commission. I did the thing of buying his Mentor permit and his Jr. Non - Resident Combo for bow and Muzzy costing around $50.00. This allowed me to send for him a doe license of course. I also know he has to go Mentor route until Nov. 4 then toss them and break out the Jr. license. This was over whelming for the guy working sporting goods at Wal-Mart. I explained it was a descent way to go allowing him to apply for his doe license, etc.
My only question is and I pretty well know he cant do this but I have to ask anyway. Since in a way he has two license's and it would be pretty tough to do, but could he take a buck with a bow on his Mentor permit and take a buck say in rifle with his Jr license giving him 2 bucks ?

I believe it's still one antlered deer per license year.

Correct. If he fills his buck tag on his mentor permit he's done for the year....his Jr buck tag becomes invalid.

As an aside, you can transfer him a doe tag AND a DMAP tag while he's a mentored youth. As soon as he's a Jr though you cannot transfer and HIS doe tags become valid. His Jr doe tag is invalid until he turns 12.

How were you able to buy the Jr. license without him taking the Hunter Safety Course?

He took it in Md. 2 years ago and Pa. never asked to see it so I didn't present it.

Yes, I have plans on that of mentoring him a doe tag before his b-day if we can get it done in archery and early muzzy. I appreciated how they did this so he was able to get his own doe tag. The price break was good since I'm paying the bill. LOl. Would of been neat if they reduced a non resident Jr. doe instead of the $26.70 but I appreciated the other being less. I do have around $90.00 in his license though.

Not sure how you were able to get his Jr license . Had the same issue with my grandson last year He turned 12 in October but when I tried to get his license online the only option it would allow is Mentored.
Called the PGC and was told that he was only 11 when that years licenses went on sale in July
Went licenses went on sale this year sure enough he was able to get a Jr resident license
