There are some nice looking deer there. Remember when most of all Potter Co. bucks were spikes or 4 points.

Even though I don’t have past years to compare it with I took the time to come up with the averages on the Potter County bucks entered in the contest. Perhaps if I can get future years I can show some trends.

2016 results:
# bucks entered…………….Average # points…………………Average spread…………………….Average weight
80……………………………………..8.500………………………………….17.199………………… ……………………..141.109

Just to see how the Potter County number of points compares with the Elk/McKean County big buck entries over the years I will post the average number of points over the past twelve years. Elk/McKean don’t record spread or weight so we can’t compare those.

Elk/McKean point averages:

Year………………average points
2005…………………9.321
2006…………………8.874
2007…………………9.098
2008…………………8.886
2009…………………8.700
2010…………………8.732
2011…………………8.549
2012…………………8.641
2013…………………8.425
2014…………………8.711
2015…………………8.135
2016…………………8.670

It looks like at least for this year Potter’s spread average is pretty much like that of the Elk/McKean bucks.

Sounds crazy but I like number 9 the best.
That's the kind of buck I would pray to come by me when I was a kid
hunting in Sullivan County.

They didn't. #63 scored 34.5, same as the first place winner, but didn't even score in the top 3.

I’m a great believer in luck, and I find the harder I work the more I have of it.

#10 is my favorite. A lot of mass and nice and tall rack. A stunner.
