Re: Northern tier

I watched a spike make love to a scrape Friday morning for about 10 minutes....does that count?

Had a wide, but pencil thin 8pt hit a scrape hard for about 6 minutes (on camera) right before dark on Thursday.

I haven't seen ANY following, chasing, cruising, etc. Does are hitting the scrapes though which, in my experience, means they'll be getting chased pretty hard from about Wednesday of this week and on.

That was all in northern Clarion County, FWIW.

Re: Northern tier

Thanks guys, I'm not seeing anything encouraging here in the lower Tioga Co. but I would think that they should soon start.
The deer on state forest and state game lands aren't really moving till dark. I have see deer in the fields on some farms just before dark but nothing great till after dark. I know they're around but hunting won't get really good til they start getting stupid, I need me one or two of those. L.O.L.

Re: Northern tier

Check out the link below. You can see that bucks start falling pretty regularly that last week of October and through the end of the season. It's pretty much the same every year, BTW.

Re: Northern tier

Watched four bucks chase a doe around on Sunday, while hanging a treestand. That's the only real sign of a rut that I've seen to this point.

Re: Northern tier

Watched a 120" 8pt run two doe for about 1/2hr today in the field across from my house. Got run off by two cars, then came back out right at dark, but this time with three doe. It was 4:00 when he was hounding them the first time. His neck was swelled real good. It is definitely starting to heat up around here. Too bad mine is already in the freezer. Lol.
