That's what archers did before me. Then they extended the season....again, before my time. It's not my fault you aren't getting your way.
I don't think you will ever have bucks legal in the early ml season. too many hunters and it would have to be for all, not just the flintlock guys. as much as I would like to take a buck in the early season with the flintlock, I just don't see how it would work. we always have the rifle season and the late season and that works for me.

Allowing antlered deer to be taken in the early muzzleloader season is certainly a possibility. It would have to be a special draw with limited tags. Many states do this. It is not a unique or new concept.

I support all hunters, regardless of weapon or technique!

This idea has been floated before. It certainly has merit if it is done right and would generate a lot of interest.

Two factors to overcome. First is some archery hunters think that the fall is archery season and not hunting season. Second is the firearms only folks are lamenting the fact that there are less deer out there. Taking more out before they get a whack out them is sure to cause some issues.

But, like I said, this is not a new concept and many states have special early muzzleloader hunts for antlered deer.

I support all hunters, regardless of weapon or technique!

There are new weapons, easier weapons, only because there are less hunters in Pa and across the states.

Re: Antlers trump antlerless

I agree dpms. not that I care myself, I love the late season and it is by far my favorite. but, it would be interesting to see the reactions of having the archery and rifle season come in on dec. 26 for a couple weeks after the deer have been thinned out and ran all over the country.

I carried my compound bow and ML on a hunt several years ago.
I could shoot a buck or doe with my bow. ( I had doe permits)
I could shoot a doe with my ML ( with my doe permits)
I figured if a doe was to far for my bow shot, I would take her with my ML. It had to be an end of the day scenario though.
Wasn't going to shoot my ML to early in case there was a buck around that I could get a shot at with my bow.
