NY Antlerless Tag

Just bought my NY hunting license online. It was easy. Also applied for the lottery for my antlerless tag.

There are 92 WMU's. There is a table with each WMU listed along with the probability of receiving a tag in each WMU. I choose 6g, where the probability of a non resident is "high."

Just don't get why PA can't break down our WMU's into smaller units and have us apply for doe permits online. Bought licenses in NY, CO, WY and PA the last 4 years. We are pre historic, to say the least. So is our website.

Just saying ...

Re: NY Antlerless Tag

Update ...

My antlerless permit application now says, "selected," and I didn't have to see if my check was cashed, fill out an application twice for one license, lick a few stamps, run to the PO to mail my letter, check the PGC website to see if I was "awarded" my antlerless permit, wonder if my license was lost in the mail, because a friend got one several weeks ago, and I haven't received mine yet, and also fretted over what county treasurers office would do the best job of processing my application.

Darn, this was just too easy. There was no suspense, no angst, no concerns. What good was it?

Real easy when you pick one of the few units with a high rating. Go 3+ years without getting a tag to hunt your own land and then see if you are preaching how great the system is. Most of their licensing is good, their doe tags system is not.

If the link works their website will explain the process and that goes with it.

The point is, NY has been doing this for some time. It can be done, and no requirement that Pa approve something as a mirror image of New York's.

that and the fact there are low predator numbers is why ny is infested with deer in some areas.

Smaller WMUs would mean you would need to get more license to hunt different ares. Not a fan of that.

$10.00 and you can get 2 doe tags if chosen in NYS, have to pick two different units.

Re: NY Antlerless Tag

Hunting NY since 09, I actually prefer the PA game units.

My parents live on the edge of one so that is a slight pain, but once you get into an area there are plenty of options.

Here in NY, I live on the edge of a boundary line and how this unit is set up really limits the amount of the in-law's land that I can utilize. I think some of the southern units may be set up a bit better but the Northern ones can follow some odd boundaries.
