How much do you rely on game cameras for sucess?

Archery is coming up fast! I was wondering how many rely on game cameras? I realize its just one of many tools but how much of a contribution is it to success?

Zero. I rarely shoot any of the buck I get pictures of all year.

Re: How much do you rely on game cameras for sucess?

This is my last year using them. Im pulling them in about two weeks. I have found I am more succesful in places where I just got in and hunt. Not going in check cameras, leaving scent, and leaving a camera that has scent on it out in a place I want to hunt. Plus I usually never see the same deer. So whats the point.

I just hunt where I know deer are, I don't need a trail camera to get my deer....if it is a buck I get, I'll stir his stew with his antlers ....

I like the challenge of hunting a specific deer so im a fan of cameras . That being said theres a right way and a damaging way to use them . If your running in the woods every week or so to check them , chances are your going to alert the deer your around .

Personally I just like looking at the pictures of the various wildlife we capture a picture of. As do the wife and kids. Never have I shot a buck that I had a picture of.

Re: How much do you rely on game cameras for sucess?

When we moved to Virginia I had about 40 acres of woods surrounded by about 60 acres of pasture fields behind the house. There were all kinds of trails zig zagging in those woods. I set a couple of cameras on different trails to figure out which got used more then pulled them before archery opened. During the Summer I got a few pics of a four point, just once, that I ended up shooting the second week of the season. Shot a nice 8 pt two weeks later that I'd never seen before.
The next year I put the cams out in the Spring and all Summer. Had pics of about 8 different buck on a regular basis. Only saw one the entire archery season....and missed him

They have their place in scouting, but should never replace good old fashioned scouting techniques.

Shoot straight

People are sick of politicians, and me, I hate cats in the house.
