Deer cull program called off

(associated press) Mount Lebanon- A community's effort to make roads safer by thinning out the local deer herd has been scrapped because of problems, including ineffective bullets and vandalism.
Officials in Mount Lebanon, near Pittsburgh, announced the action on the municipal website Friday.
Officials had earlier agreed to pay a contractor $500 a head to cull 150 deer to reduce the number of vehicle collisions.

I like to see the looks on those shooters face when they realized their big payday got nixed.

the coyote stocking program by the game commission must not be working too good there. Also the reason given for scrapping the idea was ineffective bullets and vandalism?

A couple of threads under General Hunting cover it but here are two articles.

I would love to have one of those jobs, the meat would go to the local food bank, but I would do it for 150.00 per deer.

That $500.00 per head was the Company pricing for the contract, with mobilizing and other overhead rolled in. The additional shooters income, I am guessing, are not much more than most folks wages.

They would probably be a bit more accurate with shot placement at $150.00 a head!

Re: Deer cull program called off

that $150.00 a head was just for me doing it myself.

the Remington ammo I use wouldn't have any ineffective bullets in it either

Or its the PC term for poor shooting.
