In the "What other states have" thread somebody said they would like to see baiting legal. I used to be 100% against baiting. I suppose I still am. But if a guy can go out and drive his ATV around in circles dragging a bed springs with a concrete block on it then throw a few hand fulls of borasica or clover down, set up his tree stand come back in the season and shoot a deer eating it then whats the difference between that and a guy riding his ATV out, scattering a few bushels of corn about, setting up his tree stand and killing a deer that's eating the corn?
The only difference that I can see is time. One has to grow, one does not. Other than that there is no difference. My neighbors killed several deer with their crossbows over small plots like this last year. They have two small, 1/4th acre or less, borasica plots set up under treestands. Right on the border with my property. I looked it all over and it seems like a classic baiting situation to me. Not my kind of hunting but its all legal and therefore none of my business.
I wonder what the general opinion is with hunters on this? Should baiting deer be legal for the whole commonwealth?
Me, I'm against it. And I'm against small food plots because it works toward spreading CWD.
