PGC Officer Assault Case

Woods Walker had promised to let everyone know what happened with the court case on the second defendant involved in last year's assault and disarming of the Game Commission deputy. He sent me the information to post.

The second defendant had his day in court and was sentenced yesterday.

He was sentenced to 1-23 months in prison, $7,000 restitution and court costs. He reports to prison on Jan 25. He had 3 defense attorneys in court with him, that had to cost him a bundle. Still not nearly enough but at least it is something.

How does the $7,000 restitution come into play in PA? Does he remain in prison until all is paid or is he released within that 23 month time period without payment in hopes that it will be paid.

Is woodswalker not on the forum any longer?

I have a feeling it often goes uncollected. He will be released if he doesn't pay it off, and any future wages attached. Probably to the tune of $20.00 a week for the rest of his life. That assumes he works, which can be stretching it with these types.

OJ still owes the Goldman family $70 million in restitution. Of course that's a civil case, and may be treated different, IDK.

I just read an article, but can't recall the source, about a program Mississippi has where people that owe restitution and court costs are held in a "debtors prison" (article's term for it) until they pay off what they owe. It seems to be basically set up like a work release program.

Confiscate the atv and the guns, if they had any, and have an auction to pay the fines.
