Back From Texas!

Just got home from Texas yesterday and we had a great hunt. We should have punched 7 tags out of 7 hunters but we couldn't find one buck hit on the last morning. It was my first trip and I took a 17" 8 pt at 200 yards with a 25 mph cross wind on 12/1. I was over anxious and made a hasty decision to take him when I saw the width! As soon as I shot I saw 2 others bigger. I learned a lesson to relax on the first day and hold out a bit especially on this ranch. LOL The landscape was crazy with all the thickets, cottonwood patches and chest high weeds....deer would pop up out of nowhere at times. We actually witnessed a Warden scoring a huge buck taken in neighboring Oklahoma that grossed 192"...a stud! I hope I get to return next year and be a little more patient! lol

Nice pic! He's a good one! Congrats on a successful trip.

Been there twice, both times in the spring. Axis/turkey and aoudad/turkey. Fun hunts, would also like to get back.
