CWD Testing Results

I deposited my deer head for testing on October 7 and haven't yet received results. Has anybody else submitted to the testing and who would I contact for the information? Reports are to be mailed but I'm wondering if they received so many there's a backlog. Thanks if you can help.

I placed mine on october 5th, I had to contact them last Wednesday to find out what the heck was going on. Told the lady last Tuesday at the CWD presentation it takes forever to get results. She was concerned about that. [email protected] i think is the email address to contact them. No excuse to not get the results back in a timely manner during archery season.

You can now look up the test results on the pa game commission web site. It may be faster than waiting for the letter.

If they can't keep up for archery, I can't imagine what it will be like for rifle season. Very tough deal for the hunters.

Here's the web site where you can check the status of your deer for CWD. https://pgcdatacollection.pa.gov/CWDResultsLookup

This phrase that is on the letter and that CWD page to check for your deer is not reassuring "Failure to find prions in the tissues tested does not guarantee that the deer is CWD-free"

Very interesting, thanks for posting. This quote below is from that website. I did not realize this - I thought the test was conclusive. But I get it. Sucks though:

". Please be aware that CWD testing is not a food safety test. Failure to find prions in the tissues tested does not guarantee that the deer is CWD-free, but a CWD – Not Detected result means the deer is less likely to have had the disease."

No more or less reassuring should you walk out of your Physician's office with a clean bill of health and fall over dead from a heart attack.

yes it does. They told us at the CWD presentation, they will test with one method and test again with another method to confirm.

Gentlemen, that paragraph is what you call CYA, to make it more difficult for the testing facilities to be sued should some poor soul come down with Creutzfeldt–Jakob disease. I doubt the CDC will guarantee you will not contract rabies if bitten by a rabid dog and then take the shots.

When you are up to your butt in alligators, it is hard to remember your intent was to drain the swamp. Stay focused!
