Any hunter that buys anything from Dick's or Field & Stream is contributing to anti-hunting. You might as well make a donation to PETA too. I have not set foot in either store in over a year and don't plan too.
Not any secret that Dick's is against everything we are for. Heard they got the message gun owners are on to them and got rid of all things firearm/hunting.......GOOD RIDANCE!!!!!
Dicks? when you walk into a store it shows the original owners with sporting equipment, they seem to have lost their roots. I guess GOLF is more important
I try to avoid Dicks Sporting Goods if I can. Now, with the wife....don't think I will ever convince her to stop shopping there. Makes it doubly tough with 2 middle school aged kids, and each one playing multiple sports (soccer, dek hockey, volleyball).
I started ordering my kid's dek hockey stuff from pure hockey ... mostly cause he likes a certain open toe curve on his sticks and you can't find it in most of the local stores, but when dicks went the way they did - it made even more sense & all his stuff comes from them now. Same when he was playing baseball. Bats came from on-line - i refuse to give dick's any money. I'm not above though going in there and looking at the stuff in person to see what i want and then ordering from someone else on line.
I opted out of their e-mails years ago. Told them it was because of their CEO's agenda. Then they started sending them again. I wasn't as nice the second time. Haven't heard from them since.
I'm not into buying much gun stuff and they don't carry very much hunting equipment I am interested in. But Field and Stream had great fishing stuff. I wish Dick's would spin it off so I can return to shopping there again.
I shop there as little as possible. I do buy clays there though, because they are usually the only one around me that carries them. Most everything else is either bought at mom and pop stores or Cabelas and Rural King.
When we got back from Germany we stayed in a hotel in MD for a few nights. One of the evenings we were walking through the local mall killing time while the wife and daughter were looking for whatever females look for in malls. Myself and my 10 and 12 year old boys walked in to Dick's, for no other reason than for me to explain to them why we will never buy anything from those stores. I had to give them the whole backstory and facts about the gun control crowd and their politicians, but the boys understood by the time we cleared the exit doors. They even asked some well thought out questions. We spoke in a normal talk and walk volume, and I noticed a few employees taking notice of what our conversation was about.
I’ve explained to my 8y.o. Why we no longer even go in. I put about as much detail into it as I thought he’d understand. I had no idea if it stuck or not until this week. I came home and he was immediately apologizing for shopping there. He said “I told mom we don’t go there ‘cause they are against havin’ guns, but we had to, we had no choice”. It seems he needed me baseball pants for fall ball and Dunham’s didn’t have gray and amazon couldn’t get them here in time. Well at least he tried.
Anything I might need from a big chain like Bass Pro or Walmart, I can find at either place. Crossed "bleep's" off my list long ago, although seldom set foot in there, after they opened a local F&S store. Neither place gets a dime now.
At my age there really isn't much in the way of hunting gear that I still need. Told her years ago that I don't need any hunting stuff. Ain't gonna live long enough to wear out what I already have now.

Sent the word out two years ago, no "bleep's" gift cards for Christmas, so now those cards are for Bass Pro. Bought a pair of water proof hikers, so far this year.
Was in Walmart yesterday for the first time in months. Took a walk back to the sporting goods area to see how the ammo stash looked. Well stocked.
While I was there in sporting goods, noticed people with service dogs all over the place. Talked to the trainer and found out Walmart lets them come in to acquaint new dogs with crowds, which I thought was pretty cool? All the guys were Vets, getting their first service dog. Trainer asked me to come over and stand near him, to act as a distraction to one dog.
I'm in a tuff spot here. i got two gift cards for my Birthday. they are for DSG or F&S...they came from well meaning non hunting friends that didnt know DSG and F&S is anti hunting. i cant cash them in, i could sell them but that wouldnt change a thing as DSG and F&S already have the cash, the money has been spent.
i guess i have to use them or they get the cash and keep the merchandise. AARRRGGGHHHHHHH
I never dealt with Dicks nor ever will. Not my type of store. Seems financially Dick's is doing just fine irregardless of many of us sportsmen not buying from them.
Strong 2nd Qtr(8/3/19 ending) Results. Sales plus profits climbed(strongest 2nd Qtr results since 2016):
cold hard facts.
If they put something on sale or drop prices to be the best around 90% are going back and shopping there. to most people money is more important than the cause.
I don't think that the numbers would be anywhere 90%, but unfortunately you are correct that many will purchase from there if the price is right. I, however, will proudly stand with the 10%.
Here's what I find so hypocritical of these stores and manufactures....MOST all criminals are wearing $100+ nikes....their favorite pro team jersey and hat ....wheres the outcry against where these clothes were bought...or nike..
Same here. I patronized the F&S near Dayton, Ohio a bunch when we were stationed out there. I stopped full tilt and unsubscribed from any and everything they used to mail/email the instant they made their moves.
I have family that golfs, and I also refuse to buy them gifts from Golf Galaxy, as they are also owned by Dick’s.
It sucks because Dick’s had some great deals on treestands and ammo from time to time, but there’s no compromising my principles on this one, no matter how cheap.
