Even though it's been a while it's not the first time the season didn't open on a Monday.
It's also not the end of the World, that would really Screw up the Opener.

For most people in college, earning their degree is the priority. Everything after that is, well, not that much of a priority.

And since I'm entertaining this nonsense, let me add that many colleges do not allow freshman to live off campus, some extend that rule to sophomores too and I know at least one college that is expanding that rule to juniors as well. And in many colleg towns, off campus housing is operated by companies that may also prohibit firearms right in their lease.

I lived off campus for 3 years but being able to make sure I could have my gun was not among the priorities for living off campus. It was just a nice side benefit which then allowed me to hunt up at school for a couple years (one of the places I lived though did not allow firearms as part of the lease agreement.)

Greed? Nah, it's just my pleasure in seeing how utterly outraged you are over the change. And I actually lose a day of bird hunting, which is more important to me than deer hunting, yet I'm not bellyaching about it for page after page.

And if we're really concerned with things like tradition and hunting camps and all that then I would think hunters should really support legalizing Sunday hunting too. THAT has the ability to really put hunters back into camps over MULTIPLE weekends and for more than just rifle season weekends. Which would also help add more revenue to these local economies which I would love to see. Yup, I'm greedy.

An extra day to hunt, more opportunity.....who is REALLY against that? Anti-hunters....I suppose.

Now, lets hope the legislature gets of their keister's and lets the PGC finally decide on Sunday hunting......

First you college might have facilitated it. MOST don't and not all people are right by home or even in the same state. Your experience isn't the normal.
And if you think skipping out on college to hunt for the first day is a priority with the price of college now a days I wouldn't want a degree from that school.
It was Penn State, and I skipped class. Missing one day of classes certainly isn't going to kill anyone

Depends on the class. (PSU Class of 98)
Miss a single lecture of a 200 class? Yeah, not an issue.
Miss a 400 level physics lecture? Possibly an issue.
A 400 core pedagogy class (where there's only 10 in the class)? Likely to be an issue.
Miss a practical/recitation/lab session? Definitely an issue.

Can only imagine the look on my parents faces if I was to say, "Yep, I know you are helping me out with tuition, room and board but I've prioritized going hunting."

It doesn’t matter one bit if you go hunting during college. Everyone makes choices that are right for them. What matters here is if you come back to hunting after. A Saturday opener will not help increase that one bit.
