Susquehanna Cat Fish Trip

Great night on the Susquehanna in PA fishing for flathead catfish with my youngest boy. Went with Chris Axe from Anchor Down Charter Guide, I highly recommend them.

Boated over 30, kept 6 for the dinner table along with 1 channel cat. Beautiful night, river was calm and no bugs (beside a few mayflies). Most were in the 6-9# range, biggest was 19.5#. we fished about 2 miles below where the latest state record was caught (and released), so the potential is out there. A lot of guys don't fool with the belly meat, but I keep it, improves yield by almost 50%, and tastes better than the back filets, IMHO.

The screen name Uncle Nicky was taken when I joined that site, so I went with Stan Putz.

I don't think there is any more mercury in flathead belly than the rest of the fish. The belly meat on flathead doesn't seem to have extra fat like some fish.
