Santee Cooper Trip

Back from my home away from home in southern Georgia. Spent the week deer hunting, saw a lot of deer but none I could shoot. Always a great time getting together with old friends, they treat me like one of the family.

On the way home, went catfishing with Darryl Smith of youtube fame. Had a decent day fishing, (Lake Moultrie on the Santee Cooper system). I had often read about the lake & saw it on TV, finally got a chance to try my luck there. My dropper Maizy tagged along to keep me company.

Sounds like a great trip. I liked the video too- I agree with the guy that the belly meat is the best.

Fresh shrimp, heads & shells off...you can pick them up fairly cheaply down there, I would have bought some to bring back home to eat if I had time. He said previously frozen shrimp don't work nearly as good.

He uses fairly light Ugly Stick rods, with mono line & a Santee Cooper rig, weights were 5/8-1 oz Lindy No-Snagg sinkers.
