Finally got SLIMED !

With all this rainy weather and the rivers being dangerous to be out on , I got an invite from a friend to come fishing on Shenango lake . Well , I finally got into a few decent Catfish . Not the big flatheads I'm searching for , but it was nice to finally connect .

Well , I would post some pictures , but the Attachment link isn't working . ? ? ?

Looks like you guys had fun!

Been back on the Ohio lately??

We were out the other night. Didn't fish terribly long. First couple spots the current was worse than we expected.

Got on some fish. Doubled with a 41 and 22 pound flatties. Chaos. We were still in current...the 41 took a few other lines with it..then the 22 hit. I was fighting it a barge wake hit the boat...then I watched the remaining 2 rods twist around and bow over. I was hollering for some help and we realized the wake broke the anchor free and we were moving down the river at 3mph dragging the anchor and the 2 baits that were still out.

We put a few teeners in the boat after we recooped from the chaos. Good night despite the short fishing time. Not a ton of fish over 40 pounds are landed...let alone a 63 pound double lol.

About another month or so and they'll most likely be shut down for the winter

Sorry Mauser06 , I just found your post .
I didn't make it back to the Ohio the rest of the year . I did take a road trip last week to find Reddi Bait shop . Nice people ! Bought 6 skipjacks so I'm ready for vacation in 2 weeks . Hopefully the weather will cooperate .
Nice story about your last trip. Those barges are dangerous !

Watch the gauges. 50 degrees on a regular basis is typically considered the "magic number" for when flatties start feeding actively.

Been out yet???? They are waking up. If tomorrow's rain isn't cold and we get some more sunshine it should keep warming. There was a tournament this weekend a couple pools into Ohio and they did pretty well.

I'm start a vacation this week and planning to get after them!
