Hay rake tine into a knife

Made this little guy for a local organization that will be auctioning it off. I forged the blade out of an old hay rake tine. Brass guard. The handle is a very pretty piece of spalted maple. Simple finish with paste wax. Display base is cherry and a hunk of antler. Nice little guy. Hope it finds a great home.

spalted maple..... figured maple that has been induced with a bacteria that highlights/colors the grain.

Guys there is a link to some information spalted wood. Basically it is fungi that gets in there and decays the wood giving it a pretty grain pattern or different colors.
