I had the chance over the weekend to visit the Wawarsing Knife Museum. It is located near Ellenville Ny. Some of you may know that Ellenville used to be the home of Scharade knives for a long time. They closed up shop in 2004 and the rights were sold and they are made in china. Canal Street cutlery was also in Ellenville Ny and was made up of former employees of Schrade they lasted from 2004 till December of 2015. Prior to that there was the Napanoch Cutlery company, and also the Honk Falls Cutlery Company, Napanoch Ax Factory(way back) and a little further up the road was the Grahmsville Knife Company. There was an amazing amount of knives being produced in this region for a hundred plus years. A small group of local knife enthusiasts have put this museum together. When I stopped by I was greeted by Dr Craft the president who is clearly passionate about knives and the history. The museum is in an old school and they have one room of local history items including some Indian artifacts and then another whole room of knives. They have one of the largest collection of Boy and Girl scout knives I have ever seen. There are many schrades, Automatic knives, and many many others. IF you find yourself in the area it is well worth the time to stop by. I cant imagine anyone who likes knives wouldn't enjoy it.
Here is a link to there site if that is not allowed please take it off or let me know. I have no personal affiliation just thought you guys would like to know about this little gem in the catskills.
