AR15 multi tool?

Will one of these also permit removal of the stock? Ads for them tell a lot of what it will do, but none seem to say it also is for stock removal.

I gotta go agitate the techies!

Re: AR15 multi tool?

Are you talking about removing the castle nut?

I have a little Gerber Dime multi tool that I carry in the pistol grip. It has needle nose and a good scraper for carbon removal.

Re: AR15 multi tool?

It's the big round "nut" that appears to use some kind of a spanner to loosen it for stock removal

Re: AR15 multi tool?

That would be the castle nut. The DPMS multi tool worked well, but I never see them for sale anymore.

Wheeler Engineering makes one that also includes a torque wrench to ensure you are properly using the correct torque.

Re: AR15 multi tool?

I found an online place with the DPMS multi tool, but found another site with virtually an identical tool for $10 less

Re: AR15 multi tool?

Cheaper doesn't always equate to quality. Don't waste your time or money if you are getting an NC Star or Tapco.

DPMS I had was solid. I currently own the Wheeler and I don't feel that it's as good as the DPMS tool I sold to my friend. The Magpul tool would be good too, but it's not inexpensive.

Re: AR15 multi tool?

I ordered the DPMS tool. Actually the Tapco was $.49 more expensive.
Now, is there any place to get instructions on taking my forearm(handguard) off? I have a DPMS Oricle, and in front of the handguard there's a short "block" with 4 picatinny slots on the top. I can't figure out how to get that off to facilitate removing the handguard.
